There are No Easy Answers For an Economic Revival

The Obama $447 billion employment plan has many opponents predictably from the Republicans but also from within his own party. The reasons are not too difficult to fathom, for the Obama plan calls for some sacrifice from all sections of the American populace and that would mean trouble for those seeking re-election. Unfortunately, there are no easy answers towards fashioning an economic revival.

Obama Unveils a $447 Billion Employment Plan

If you ask any true died-in-the-wool (pun intended) economist, the western concept of a social welfare state makes no economic sense at all. The whole idea of a free market system that is so dear to American ideology is based on the fact that when you want to sell you must make profit. When you pay someone, he must produce productive work that will lead to profits. So how can you pay someone for not working? In pure economic terms, the social welfare system is a dead loss, plain and simple.

Obama Vows to Fight for Jobs Bill

A day after the Senate rejected the president’s Jobs Bill, Barack Obama vowed to continue fighting until his $447-billion employment plan is passed by the Senate.

President Obama’s job package includes the extension of the payroll tax cut, the introduction of a surtax on individual earnings over $1 million each year, and lower taxes for employers who recruit long-term unemployed workers. Part of the bill would also provide funds to either recruit or retain teachers as well as emergency personnel. Quoting independent analysts, the White House said the proposal would create the best part of 2 million jobs.
